Abstract

In April 2014 in Bogor City Deflation occurred at 0.43 percent or a decline in the consumer price index (CPI) of 111.95. Of the 7 CPI cities in West Java, four cities experienced deflation. The highest deflation occurred in the city of Bekasi by 0.80 percent and the lowest deflation occurred in the city of Sukabumi by 0.09 percent. Of the three cities experiencing inflation, the highest inflation occurred in the city of Cirebon of 0.26 percent and the lowest occurred in the city of Tasikmalaya of 0.03 percent.
     Deflation occurs because in general the decline in prices indicated by the decline in index and inflation occurs due to price increases as indicated by the increase in index. Bogor City index changes are: foodstuff category -2.50 percent; finished food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.08 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.38 percent; clothing 0.07 percent; health group 0.15 percent; education, recreation and sport groups are relatively stable and transportation, communication and financial services group is -0.10 percent.
    The inflation rate for calendar year 2014 is 0.94 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (April 2014 to April 2013) is 7.50 percent.
