Abstract

In May 2014 in Kota Bogor there was an inflation of 0.11 percent or a rise in the consumer price index (CPI) to 112.07 Out of the 7 CPI cities in West Java six cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Sukabumi by 0.45 percent and the lowest inflation occurred in the city of Cirebon by 0.02 percent. And one city that experienced deflation is Bekasi City by 0.14 percent.

Inflation is due to the general rise in prices indicated by the rise in the index and deflation occurring due to a drop in prices as indicated by the decline in the index. Changes of Bogor City index are: foodstuff category -0.45 percent; food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco group by 0.55 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.34 percent; clothing group 0.11 percent; health group 0.32 percent; education, recreation, and sport groups are relatively stable and transportation, communication and financial services group -0.04 percent.

The inflation rate for calendar year 2014 is 1.05 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2014 to May 2013) is 6.88 percent.
